• The door requires shoulder weight to move. This usually means the roller bearings have corroded or the axle has flattened. In Pembroke Pines, we see this within 6-8 years on non-impact units facing west, where afternoon rain followed by sun traps moisture in the housing.

DIY or Call Us?

There is one thing a Pembroke Pines owner can safely check: the roller adjustment screw at the door bottom. A 7/16-inch wrench, turned clockwise, raises the door; counter-clockwise lowers it. If a quarter-turn either direction changes nothing, the roller is spent and the door must come out of the track.

Removing a sliding door panel solo is where DIY goes wrong. A standard 6-foot Mr-Glass dual-pane panel weighs 90-120 pounds; an impact-rated unit runs 160-200 pounds. The panel must lift vertically into the head track, then swing clear of the sill, without twisting the frame. We also do not recommend disassembling the lock mechanism. The MG-7000 mortise lock contains a spring-loaded deadbolt under compression; improper reassembly can leave the door unlocked without visible indication.
