How Sightline Windows & Doors Came to Pembroke Pines

We opened this branch in 2012, the same year Sightline itself was born, because we kept driving past houses in Pembroke Pines with windows that didn’t fit right. You could see it from the street. Gaps in the caulking. Frames that sat crooked in the opening. Screens that bowed outward because someone had measured the rough opening instead of the daylight opening and called it close enough.

The moment that stuck with us happened on a job in Southwest Ranches, just west of here. A homeowner had already paid another company to replace three impact windows after a storm. The new units leaked. Not dramatically, not enough to flood the floor, but enough to stain the drywall below the sill every September when the afternoon thunderstorms rolled through. The original contractor had disappeared. The manufacturer pointed to the installer. The installer pointed to the manufacturer. The homeowner was out twelve thousand dollars and still had wet walls.

We fixed it. Not because we were heroes, but because we measured the actual opening, found the flange was sitting on top of the house wrap instead of behind it, and reinstalled the units with proper sill pan flashing. Took two days. When we handed the homeowner our measured survey and the photos of what we’d found, they asked why the first company hadn’t done that. We didn’t have a good answer. Still don’t.

That was the week we decided Pembroke Pines needed a branch that worked the way the original Sightline worked. Every job starts with a measured survey the customer keeps. The quote is the measurement. The measurement is the quote. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard.

Sonia Raman’s Path to This Work

Sonia Raman didn’t start in windows. She started in a warehouse in Hialeah Gardens, unloading crates of tempered glass at five in the morning, the kind of glass that goes into storefronts and high-rise balconies. The smell of the silicone sealant never really washes out of your clothes. She learned to read a glazing schedule before she learned to read a balance sheet. A glazing schedule is the document that tells you which piece of glass goes where, what thickness, what tint, whether it needs to be heat-soaked or not. It’s the truth of the building, written in code.

The tradesman who trained her was a glazier from Pompano who had been installing since the 1980s. He taught her to hold a tape measure with her thumb on the hook, not her finger, because your thumb doesn’t sweat. He taught her that the sightline, the visible edge of glass inside the frame, is what the customer actually lives with. Everything else is engineering. The sightline is experience.

Sonia spent years watching salespeople sell frames the customer didn’t need, upgrades that didn’t change the sightline, “impact-rated” labels on products that met code but nothing more. She watched quotes balloon between the showroom and the install. She watched homeowners sign for one number and pay another. The industry treated the window like a commodity and the customer like a margin.

What gets her out of bed now is the opposite of that. It’s the text from a homeowner in Miramar sending a photo of their new ViewLux sliding door, open to the patio, the sightline clean, the screen rolling smooth on the track. It’s the call from Cooper City asking if we can match the muntin pattern on a 1980s aluminum window so the HOA doesn’t fine them. It’s knowing that the measured survey in their file matches what we installed, and they have the paperwork to prove it.

If she weren’t doing this, she’d probably be teaching. She almost did, once. But the work of making a house fit its owner, of translating what someone sees in their head into what they see through their wall, that turned out to be its own kind of teaching. Just with a tape measure and a level instead of a chalkboard.

Meet Sonia Raman - The Person Behind Every Job

Sonia Raman is the Owner and Founder of Sightline Windows & Doors Pembroke Pines. She holds every state license required to perform window and door installation in Florida, carries full insurance and bonding, and has spent fourteen years in the field measuring, fitting, and troubleshooting every major brand in the South Florida market, including Therma-Tru entry systems and PGT impact product lines.

What separates her from a corporate franchise technician is simple: she’s the one who answers when the local coordinator connects a call to our team. She reviews every measured survey before it becomes a quote. She visits jobs in Weston and Davie that aren’t going to plan. She knows which Miami Lakes HOAs require colonial grids and which ones prohibit them.

Outside of work, she restores mid-century furniture. It’s the same appeal: taking something that doesn’t fit right anymore and making it fit precisely. Her commitment to every customer is direct and specific: you will receive a written quote before anyone starts, a named technician with a text when they’re on the way, and photos of what we actually found when we opened your wall. That’s not a slogan. It’s Clause 1, Clause 2, and Clause 4 of the Haven Standard, and she stamps it on every job.

Our Promise to Pembroke Pines Homeowners

We operate under the Haven Standard, and we don’t abbreviate it. Every promise has a number and a document behind it.

Clause 1: Have it in writing. The measured survey we leave with you after the first visit becomes your quote. The quote becomes your work order. The work order becomes your warranty. If the number moves, we made a mistake and we eat it.

Clause 2: Arrive on schedule. We give you a real window, not “sometime Tuesday.” A named technician. A text when they’re on the way. We’ve sat in traffic on I-75 enough times to know that “on the way” means nothing without a timestamp.

Clause 3: Verified crews. Every pro working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires. We don’t send someone to your home in Pembroke Pines whose background we haven’t checked and whose license number we can’t produce.

Clause 4: Evidence on every job. Photos of the rough opening. Moisture readings. The old unit before it comes out, the new unit before it goes in. You keep the file.

Clause 5: No surprises. No “while we’re in here” upsell. No scope creep. If we find rot in the sill, we stop, we show you, and we write a new line item with a new signature before we proceed.

Our Credentials

Modern black-framed windows and open glass doors overlooking a backyard lawn
Our Credentials
  • State-licensed for window and door installation in Florida
  • Insured & bonded for residential and commercial work
  • Fourteen years of local experience in the South Florida market
  • Strong local reputation across Pembroke Pines and surrounding communities

These credentials matter because a window installation opens your wall to the elements. Florida building code is specific about impact resistance, wind load, and egress requirements. An unlicensed installer can void your homeowner’s insurance and leave you liable for code violations. Our licensing means we pull permits when they’re required and we pass inspections. Our insurance means if something goes wrong, you’re not paying for it. Our fourteen years in this market means we’ve installed in the stucco exteriors common to Plantation, the concrete block of Miami Gardens, and the mixed construction of Opa-locka. We know what the inspectors look for because we’ve stood next to them.

Rooted in Pembroke Pines

Our trucks leave from a warehouse near Pines Boulevard each morning. We’ve installed in the gated communities off Taft Street, the ranch homes near C.B. Smith Park, and the townhouses along Sheridan. We know which developments were built in the 2003-2007 boom and which ones used the cheaper vinyl windows that are failing now. We’ve worked through the humidity of August and the afternoon thunderstorms that roll in from the Everglades without warning. This isn’t a territory on a map for us. It’s the specific soil, the specific code office, the specific afternoon light that comes through a west-facing window in Pembroke Pines. That’s the sightline we’re protecting.
